Meta opens its Muse AI agent to small businesses, but only in the US and Canada
Archive · Issue of 2 October 2026

What happened
On 29 September, Meta launched Muse for Small Business, a version of its Muse AI agent that connects to the business tools owners already use (Meta, TechCrunch). The list of connectors includes Shopify, Stripe, Intuit QuickBooks, Slack, Canva, Notion, Zoom, Dropbox, Asana and Klaviyo, plus your Facebook pages, Instagram analytics and Meta ad accounts. You give it a goal, such as finding new customers, and it works on the task. Meta says nothing is published, sent or paid for without your approval.
Muse for Small Business is free with usage limits. Paid plans exist for heavier use, but Meta’s announcement does not list their prices.
Why it matters for your business
This is the first big AI agent built around a small firm’s ad accounts and sales tools at the same time. In theory it can look at last month’s sales in Shopify or Stripe, compare them with your Instagram ad spend and suggest what to change. That is a job most owners either skip or pay an agency for.
The flip side is access. To be useful, the agent needs to read your sales, customer and finance data. That is a lot to hand to one company, and Meta’s main business is advertising.
The Swiss angle
- Availability: Meta’s announcement says Muse is available in the US and Canada. Meta gave no date for Switzerland or the EU.
- Price in CHF: the free tier would cost nothing. Paid plan prices are not published.
- Data: connecting QuickBooks, Stripe or a customer list means sending personal data about your customers to a US provider. Under the Swiss Data Protection Act (nDSG), you would need to tell customers about this in your privacy notice.
- Languages: Meta has not said which languages Muse supports for business tasks.
What to do
Nothing yet, as it is not available here. Use the wait to decide which of your tools you would connect, and which you would keep out. A sensible rule for any agent: start with read-only jobs on ad data, and add finance or customer data only once you know exactly what it can see.
