Apple’s new Siri arrives in English first, not initially in the EU

What happened
At its event on 9 September 2026 Apple announced “Siri AI”, a rebuilt Siri powered by Apple Intelligence, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro (Apple Newsroom). Apple said Siri AI would roll out in beta with iOS 27 on 14 September, in English first, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish following in October. Apple also said Siri AI “will not be initially available in the EU” on iOS.
Why it matters for your business
According to Apple, the new Siri can find information across your messages and emails, act on what is on screen and answer general questions. For an owner who runs the business from an iPhone, that could mean asking “When did the Meier offer go out?” instead of searching three apps.
Two catches. It is a beta, so expect mistakes. And German and Italian were not in Apple’s first two language waves, which rules it out for many Swiss teams for now. Apple Intelligence as a whole, the older set of writing and summary tools, ships with iOS 27 in 16 languages, including German and French, according to the same announcement.
The Swiss angle
Switzerland is not in the EU, so the EU exclusion does not automatically apply here. Apple’s announcement did not say whether Swiss users get Siri AI. Check on a device set to Switzerland after updating. If it appears, French-speaking teams get it first, from October. German and Italian speakers have no date yet.
Apple also notes that some features that use its servers have daily limits and that wider access will eventually be paid. No price was given.
What to do
Nothing yet for most businesses. Don’t buy new phones for this. If your team uses iPhones for work, decide now whether Siri may read work email, and put that in your staff AI policy before the feature reaches you.
