What your team may paste into AI (and what it may not)

Archive · Issue of 14 August 2026

Hi,

This issue’s theme is data. In the second week of August, Microsoft put work and personal Copilot into one app, Google’s AI note-taker started working in the meeting room, and both raise the same question: what goes where? This issue’s guide answers it under the Swiss Data Protection Act, in plain words.

📰 The big three

1. Microsoft merges its Copilot apps into one

Microsoft started replacing its consumer and business Copilot apps with a single app, holding work and personal accounts side by side. For business users it’s mostly a new icon and a new address. Microsoft also said it has passed 30 million paid Microsoft 365 Copilot licences.

2. Google Meet takes notes in in-person meetings

Gemini’s “Take notes for me” now works for meetings around a real table. Tap Take notes in Google Meet and you get a summary, action items and transcript in Google Docs. It comes with Workspace Business Standard and above.

So what for your business? Useful for site visits and supplier meetings. Always ask everyone in the room before you start recording. Read more

3. Switzerland sets the course for its 2027 AI summit

The Federal Council named former CERN head Fabiola Gianotti to prepare the Geneva AI Summit 2027, theme “Bridging Innovation and Trust”, budget about CHF 6 million. A Swiss AI consultation draft is due by the end of 2026.

So what for your business? No new rules yet. The Data Protection Act already covers your AI use today. Read more
